Varahur, is a small village in Tamilnadu - India, which is around 1 hr drive from Trichy and on the banks of the river NaduKaveri, famously known as Cauvery. Varahur is also known as Varahapuri, famous for the temple of Sri Lakshmi Narayana and Lord Venkateswara.

History:

Varahur was earlier known as Bhupatirajapuram. After the arrival of Saint Narayana Tirtha, it was named as Varahapuri alias Varahur. Here goes the story..
Saint Narayana Tirtha who took 'apat sanysa' to save his life, once denied the prasadam of Lord Venkateswara at Tiruapti given by a bright young boy. The boy cursed him that he will suffer from acute stomach pain for denying the prasadam. Saint Narayana Tirtha immediately felt the stomach pain and was in search of mutki from the pain. His stomach pain became unbearable at a place called Nadukaveri and suddenly a divine voice asked to follow a Varaha passing by, which took him to Bhupatirajapuram, now renamed as Varahapuri/Varahur. With the help of villagers there, Saint Narayana Tirtha erected a temple for Sri Lakshmi Narayana and Lord Venkateswara. The divine will to build a temple for the Lord was through Saint Narayana Tirtha, which ultimately relieved his stomach pain. Saint NarayanaTirtha composed most of the "Sri Krishna Leela Tarangini" in this tinsel town, which praises Lord Krishna and also reflects our ancient Vedic culture.

Events:
1. Every year during Krishna-Ashtami, Uriadi ( Wu-ri-adi) festival is celbrated for about 3 days.
2. A festival is celebrated for Narayana Tirthar around the month of February.
